Brain Mapping and Brain Health Services

[to be updated after July 12, 2010]

Thank you to all of you who assisted while NIHA and Dr. Wilson gradually prepared for offering brain assessment with Quantitative EEG, and neurofeedback. This will not be offered at this time at the NIHA center; however, there is a licensed psychologist whose services are outstanding. You can read about Dr. Deborah Stokes and The Better Brain Center: "Neurotherapy and Brain Enhancement" on her Internet site: www.TheBetterBrainCenter.com.

Their “Our Services” page includes: Attention Deficit Disorder; Migraines; Depression; Anxiety; Insomnia.

Their main office is in Alexandria, VA, another is on I-Street in Washington DC.

Their services when patients are referred to them can focus on assessment of brain activity, and providing neurofeedback as support for programs of licensed practitioners such as Dr. Gant and Dr. Wilson.

[Note: The Synaptic Connection services are currently not available. The background below is still valid.]

Brain Mapping and services for Veterans:
The sacrifices of our military volunteers and our response to help them are bringing benefits for all of us:
Programs for Neuro-Imaging/Brain Mapping and treatment that were developed for TBI and impaired brain function [such as at Crossroads Institute] have opened doors for many people. The results can be profound. The assessments and treatments can also help improve performance and increase mental function in people who do not have traumatic brain injury. However, the cost for out-of-pocket purchase for those who want to improve memory and wellness is prohibitive. Synaptic Connections is dedicated to promoting this service and eventually lowering the price for the general public so that many more people will be able to benefit.

Use the contact form below to begin learning about this and how you or someone you know may benefit. Our affiliate sites can offer low-cost assessments for those in underserved populations who can travel from elsewhere in the country.

See below: Dr. Xenakis describes how qEEG helps brain injured veterans move forward to live full, rich lives. He is a supporter of the Coming Home Project.

[NOTE: One practitioner who provides Quantum EEG is Scott Fairchild, Psy.D., in Florida, who told me about the QEEG program developed to help military veterans who have suffered Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), the The Coming Home Project -- see below the video from that page. He is on the board of directors of Synaptic Connections.]

What Is Quantitative EEG?

"Brain Mapping" and NeuroGeniSys training have been offered by Crossroads Institute.

*New program that uses Quantum EEG brain imaging is part of The Coming Home Project [see qEEG video below, from Project]

Stephen Xenakis, M.D.: Brain Injury and Quantum EEG (qEEG)

[supporter of The Coming Home Project]

Dr. Xenakis is also a retired general in the Army (he likened it to being a CEO, helping to get things done) and is promoting the rapid assessment and help for soldiers and veterans who have experienced brain effects from blast concussion and direct trauma. He also speaks (near the end of his talk) about the positive things that we can do to help people understand their life after injury and how they can move ahead into full and rich lives.

I think that qEEG will be helpful for examining all types of brain function, in both civilians and military. This would help us to advise people on how to most effectively rebuild their lives after traumas, whether physical or psychological.
